UN Special Envoy for the Sahel Hiroute G. Sellassie meets with OECD Secretary-General

 

The UN Special Envoy for the Sahel, Ms Hiroute Guebre Sellassie, met with Angel Gurría, OECD Secretary-General and OECD staff, including Mr Laurent Bossard, Director of the SWAC Secretariat and Ms Marie Trémolières, Senior Policy Analyst on 23 July at the OECD headquarters. The meeting served to confirm the scope of future collaboration between the UN and the SWAC. 

Hiroute Guebre Sellassie

‌‌Ms Sellassie was appointed by the UN Secretary-General as UN Special Envoy for the Sahel on 1 May 2014, succeeding Mr Romano Prodi. The implementation of the UN Integrated Strategy for the Sahel is among her key responsabilities. Closely articulating security to development, the strategy is based on three strategic goals: governance, security and resilience. Five core countries are concerned by the strategy: Burkina Faso, Chad, Mali, Mauritania and Niger.
