The Dominican Republic has undertaken significant reforms to strengthen its public integrity system. These efforts include establishing the Presidential Transparency and Anti-Corruption Commission, creating Government Integrity and Regulatory Compliance Commissions within public institutions and developing its first National Integrity Strategy.
Building on these efforts, this OECD Integrity Review assesses the country’s public integrity system, highlighting both the progress achieved and the remaining regulatory and implementation gaps. It provides recommendations to strengthen institutional co-ordination, conflict-of-interest management, integrity culture in government and across society, and transparency and access to information.
The Review also examines measures to enhance integrity risk management, internal and external audit, whistleblower protection, mechanisms for detecting and sanctioning misconduct, as well as transparency and integrity in lobbying, influence activities, and political finance.
Taken together, these recommendations are designed to reinforce public trust, strengthen government effectiveness and accountability, and support the Dominican Republic's long-term social and economic resilience.
