09/10/2026 – The Secretariat of the Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information for Tax Purposes (Global Forum) successfully conducted an introductory webinar on the requirements of the Crypto-Asset Reporting Framework (CARF) on 7 October 2026, organised in collaboration with the OECD's Global Relations Programme on Taxation and co-hosted by its Multilateral Tax Centres in Budapest (Hungary) and Ankara (Türkiye). The event brought together 502 participants from over 80 jurisdictions, demonstrating the growing interest of tax administrations and ministries of finance in preparing for the implementation of the international standard.
The webinar was held in multiple languages and aimed to raise awareness of the CARF and equip participants with the foundational knowledge needed to begin assessing the implications of the framework for their jurisdictions. It combined a detailed presentation of the CARF’s technical requirements with a practical implementation perspective from the United Kingdom.
Participants benefited from concrete insights into how the United Kingdom is preparing for implementation, including key achievements and remaining challenges. A lively Q&A session followed, reflecting strong engagement and growing interest in the framework, while also providing an opportunity to explore some of the challenges and future considerations that administrations may encounter as they move forward with implementation.
The CARF was developed by the OECD working with G20 countries to provide for the reporting and automatic exchange of information on crypto-asset transactions, helping tax administrations address tax compliance risks associated with the rapid growth of the crypto-asset market.
