03/11/2026 – The Global Forum Secretariat delivered on-site technical assistance to Egypt from 25 to 29 October 2026 to support the country’s efforts in strengthening its implementation of the Standard on transparency and exchange of information on request (EOIR), address recommendations arising from its second round EOIR peer review published in March 2024, and prepare for the enhanced monitoring and peer review processes.
Over five days, 29 participants from the Egyptian Tax Authority and the Ministry of Finance enhanced their understanding of the EOIR standard and the concept of foreseeable relevance, with the use of practical case studies, while raising awareness of automatic exchange of information.
The Secretariat also conducted extensive consultations and technical working sessions with key authorities, including the Ministry of Finance, the Egyptian Tax Authority, the Central Bank of Egypt and the Financial Regulatory Authority. The discussions focused on enhancing awareness of the enhanced monitoring process on EOIR, reviewing progress made since the adoption of the peer review report and identifying any further legislative, regulatory and operational measures to reinforce Egypt’s tax transparency framework.
This event is part of the Global Forum’s broader ongoing support to Egypt in implementing and benefitting from the implementation of the international standards on tax transparency and exchange of information.
