Tax Transparency in Africa 2026 is a key output of the Africa Initiative, a programme established in 2014 to ensure that African countries are equipped to exploit the latest improvements in global transparency, to better tackle tax evasion and other illicit financial flows and ultimately improve domestic resource mobilisation to support their economic development.
The report presents insights from over 40 African countries, with impressive figures, case studies and testimonies showing the concrete results achieved. It highlights African countries’ commitment and progress in advancing the implementation and use of the international tax transparency standards, to combat tax evasion and other forms of illicit financial flows from Africa.
The 2026 edition, co-produced by the Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information for Tax Purposes (Global Forum) and the African Tax Administration Forum, will be launched during the 19th meeting of the Africa Initiative on 30 June 2026 in Cotonou, Benin.
With 39 African country members and 19 partners and donors, the Africa Initiative drives the tax transparency agenda in Africa through enhanced political commitment and capacity building, in support of the mobilisation of domestic resources and the fight against illicit financial flows.
