14/09/2026 – Argentina, a member of the Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information for Tax Purposes (Global Forum) since 2009, has committed to implement the Crypto-Asset Reporting Framework (CARF) and to start automatic exchange of information on crypto-asset transactions by September 2029.
“Argentina’s commitment marks another important step towards the widespread implementation of the CARF,” said Gaël Perraud, Chair of the Global Forum. “It will help ensure that Argentina’s tax authorities are equipped with the information they need on transactions in crypto-assets taking place abroad, and reinforces international efforts to address the tax evasion and avoidance risks created by the increased use of crypto-assets.”
The crypto-asset market has grown rapidly over a short period of time, bringing new opportunities for taxpayers to hide their income and wealth from tax authorities and other regulators. These risks are particularly acute when taxpayers hold and transact in crypto-assets abroad. To address the tax evasion and avoidance risks created by the increased use of crypto-assets at an international level, the OECD worked with G20 countries to develop the CARF, which extends automatic exchange of information between tax authorities to the crypto-asset sector.
The development of the CARF was endorsed by the G20, which invited the Global Forum to work to ensure its widespread implementation. As a developing country and an active member of the CARF Group, Argentina has contributed to the discussions on the implementation of the CARF. With Argentina’s commitment, 77 jurisdictions are now committed to implementing the CARF by 2027, 2028 or 2029.
The Global Forum will monitor Argentina’s progress in delivering its commitment to start exchanges under the CARF by September 2029. The Global Forum Secretariat will also support Argentina throughout the implementation process.

About the Global Forum
With over 170 members, the Global Forum is the leading multilateral body mandated to ensure that jurisdictions around the world adhere to and effectively implement the standard on transparency and exchange of information on request (EOIR) and the standards for automatic exchange of information (AEOI), covering financial accounts under the Common Reporting Standard (CRS) and crypto-asset transactions under the Crypto-Asset Reporting Framework (CARF). These objectives are achieved through robust monitoring and peer review processes. The Global Forum also runs an extensive capacity-building programme to support its members to implement the standards and help tax authorities make the best use of cross-border information sharing channels.
