08/10/2026 – India hosted a four-day Global Forum workshop on enhancing the effective use of automatically-exchanged taxpayer data from 5 to 8 October 2026 in Nagpur. The event, Enhancing the effective use of CRS data: From data processing to compliance outcomes, was held under the Asia Initiative and attended by 29 tax officials from India, the Maldives, Thailand and Viet Nam. It was co-organised by the Department of Revenue of the Ministry of Finance of India, the National Academy of Direct Taxes (NADT) in Nagpur and the Global Forum Secretariat.
The workshop aimed to support Asia Initiative members in strengthening the effective use of information received under the Common Reporting Standard (CRS), covering the full data lifecycle from receipt and preparation to matching, risk analysis, compliance action and tax recovery.
Through practical examples, exercises, experience sharing and case studies, participants explored approaches to data cleansing and taxpayer matching, the development of CRS risk indicators and risk profiles, the identification of potential non-compliance, and the selection of appropriate compliance responses. The workshop also examined approaches to integrating CRS data into broader compliance strategies and translating identified risks into measurable compliance and revenue outcomes.
