13/03/2026 – Twenty-seven tax officials, including auditors and exchange of information (EOI) officials from 17 member jurisdictions of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Study Group on Asia-Pacific Tax Administration and Research (SGATAR), met in Tokyo, Japan, from 10 to 12 March for the “EOI Workshop for ADB and SGATAR Members”. The three-day event was hosted by the National Tax Agency (NTA) of Japan and the ADB, and included contributions from Global Forum Secretariat experts.

Global Forum Secretariat supports workshop on exchange of information on request jointly organised by Japan, ADB and SGATAR
The workshop aimed at deepening participants’ understanding of the Standard on Transparency and Exchange of Information on Request (EOIR) and its linkages with domestic tax audits and compliance activities. Through presentations, case studies and group discussions, participants learned how to identify potential EOIR cases during tax audits, enhanced their ability to prepare effective information requests and discussed how to use EOIR outcomes to improve tax compliance and fight tax evasion.
This event contributes to the capacity-building activities delivered by the Global Forum Secretariat under the Asia Initiative.
