07/05/2026 – The Global Forum has launched the first edition of its Information Security Officer Leadership Programme – Strengthening Information Security Governance in Tax Authorities, further advancing its worldwide efforts to support sustainable information security management capacities within tax authorities.
With a strong operational focus, the programme adopts a scenario‑based “learning‑by‑doing” approach, enabling selected participants to perform practical tasks typically expected of an Information Security Officer within tax authorities. Over 15 months, participants will build capabilities in information security governance, accountability, risk management, and the identification, implementation, and monitoring of security controls aligned with international good practices.
Strengthening information security management arrangements has long been a central component of the Global Forum’s capacity‑building strategy, reflecting the critical role robust data security plays in maintaining trust and ensuring the secure handling of the exchanged information. The new flagship initiative is designed to equip tax authorities with practical skills and tools to protect sensitive data and support effective international tax co-operation.
The 2026 edition brings together 25 jurisdictions, highlighting strong interest among Global Forum members in continuously reinforcing information security arrangements in a fast‑evolving cybersecurity risk environment, while building robust internal expertise within tax authorities.
