06/03/2026 – On 4 March 2026, the Global Forum Secretariat hosted a virtual event dedicated to unpacking the amendments made in 2023 to the Common Reporting Standard (amended CRS). The event brought together 352 officials from 93 member jurisdictions, offering guidance on the key steps, timeline and requirements for an effective implementation of the standard.
During the event, participants received updates on the Global Forum’s monitoring of the implementation of the amended CRS, including on the indicative timelines for jurisdictions. The Secretariat outlined key implementation milestones, such as establishing the necessary domestic and international legal frameworks, and introducing the new CRS XML Schema 3.0.
The event also provided a detailed overview of the changes made to the CRS to equip participants with the essential concepts needed for its effective implementation. In addition, the Secretariat introduced its capacity‑building initiatives designed to support jurisdictions in meeting their commitments.
The CRS was amended by the OECD, in collaboration with G20 countries, to help jurisdictions enhance tax transparency by expanding its scope to cover new digital financial products and improve the usability of the exchanged financial account information. The first exchanges under the amended CRS will take place in September 2027.
