The event will present the findings of the report “Linking Indigenous Communities with Regional Development in Australia”. The report provides recommendations to improve economic outcomes for Indigenous Australians around three key themes:
- improving the quality of the statistical framework and the inclusion of Indigenous peoples in the governance of data
- promoting entrepreneurship to provide opportunities for Indigenous peoples to use assets and resources in ways that align with their objectives for development
- implementing an approach to policies that is adapted to places, and empowers Indigenous institutions and communities
Participants will have the opportunity to take part in a discussion of the recommendations with Australian Indigenous leaders and about the importance of prioritisation for implementation.
