Pilot alignment assessments are voluntary and based on the alignment assessment methodology and assessment tool for the sector. The OECD’s alignment assessments evaluate the alignment of an industry, government or multi-stakeholder initiative with the recommendations of OECD due diligence guidance and accompanying credibility criteria, using the OECD’s alignment assessment tools and methodology.
Alignment assessment of sustainability initiatives for due diligence in the garment and footwear sector
The OECD is piloting a process to assess the alignment of sustainability initiatives operating in the garment and footwear sector with the recommendations of the OECD Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Supply Chains in the Garment and Footwear Sector and related governance and credibility criteria. The Garment and Footwear Guidance is the negotiated and government-backed standard for responsible business conduct due diligence in the sector.
Full alignment assessments (standards, implementation and governance components)
The OECD carried out a full alignment assessment of the German government-back Green Button Standard 2.0 between 2022 and 2024.
This report sets out the OECD’s findings on the alignment of the Green Button Standard 2.0 with the recommendations set out in the OECD Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Supply Chains in the Garment and Footwear Sector and related governance criteria.
The OECD carried out a full Alignment Assessment and a re-assessment (standards-only) of Fair Wear Foundation between 2020 and 2024.

The OECD carried out a standards-only alignment assessment of the Cradle to Cradle Certified Product Standard in 2024.
