This document provides advice to Chile to support the preparation of its 2027–2032 Plan for National and International Assessments, with a focus on national student assessments. It begins with an overview of Chile’s school system, followed by an analysis of how Chile’s approach compares internationally in the context of standardised student assessments (e.g. organisation, purposes, subject coverage and dissemination of results). The document then sets out the following core considerations to inform the design and implementation of the next Plan: 1) Vision and aim: Clarifying and aligning the purposes, scope and uses of student assessments; 2) Design and alignment: Prioritising alignment between assessments, the curriculum and teaching practice; 3) Implementation and use of results: Inclusive assessment and using assessment results to improve equity; 4) Analysis and dissemination: Further improving the analysis and dissemination of results.
