Strengthening Latvia’s student assessment system

This paper provides recommendations to Latvia on the development of a National Student Assessment Framework and the strengthening of its student assessment system. Drawing on international experience, it aims to inform policy discussions on current and future assessment reforms. The paper reviews the strengths and challenges of the existing student assessment system, with a particular focus on national standardised assessments, national examinations, and centrally developed classroom-based assessments. It concludes with policy recommendations to support the development and implementation of the National Student Assessment Framework and specific assessment instruments. The paper may also be of interest to other countries seeking to strengthen their student assessment systems.
