Southeast and East Asia play a pivotal role in global efforts to end plastic pollution. ASEAN Plus Three countries are at the heart of this region, represented by the 10 Member States of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, Japan, Korea and the People’s Republic of China (hereafter, China). This region has become a hotspot for plastic pollution in recent decades, underscoring the need for additional action to tackle this important problem, protect livelihoods, and safeguard planetary health.
The Regional Plastics Outlook for Southeast and East Asia provides a roadmap to support the design and implementation of plastic policies in the region.
