Indonesia has implemented significant legal and institutional reforms in recent years to strengthen the governance of its state-owned enterprises (SOEs) and to incorporate sustainability considerations into state ownership arrangements. Despite this progress, a number of important challenges remain. This policy paper takes stock of the main issues in mainstreaming sustainability policies within the state ownership function, building on the OECD Guidelines on Corporate Governance of State-Owned Enterprises. It also highlights key takeaways for policymakers to support further improvements and reforms in the SOE sector in Indonesia.
