This report advances the implementation of Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD) for nanomaterials by compiling and reviewing tools, integrative systems and platforms that support design, risk assessment and sustainability considerations. It builds on the OECD SSbD framework and the Safer and Sustainable Innovation Approach (SSIA), and offers practical guidance for innovators to select suitable tools during early-stage development when data is limited. Its contribution lies in providing a structured inventory, identifying data requirements and recommending solutions that bring together environmental, social and economic dimensions. This work supports industry capacity to embed safety and sustainability from the outset and encourages innovation that aligns with global policy goals.
