Early4AdMa and SUNSHINE represent two complementary approaches for advancing safe and sustainable innovation in advanced materials. This report compares Early4AdMa’s anticipatory system, helping regulators identify safety, sustainability and regulatory issues early, with SUNSHINE’s Safe-and-Sustainable-by-Design (SSbD) strategy for multicomponent nanomaterials, guiding industry during R&D and product optimisation. Both share proactive risk management, life cycle perspective and stakeholder engagement, forming the foundation of the Safe and Sustainable Innovation Approach (SSIA). By leveraging their synergies, this comparison demonstrates how combined use strengthens innovation and regulatory readiness, contributing to safer and more sustainable materials aligned with major policy goals such as the European Green Deal and Circular Economy.
