Misuse of antibiotics remains a key driver of antimicrobial resistance (AMR), the ability of microorganisms to resist antibiotics. Over the last two decades, the total consumption of antibiotics in humans increased modestly in OECD and EU/EEA and substantially across non-OECD G20 countries. This brief highlights key results from the report Embracing a One Health Framework to Fight Antimicrobial Resistance, released in September 2023.
