In 2020, the Swedish Research Council (SRC) established a National Reference Group focused on open access to research data and the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC). This group serves as a coordination mechanism aimed at increasing awareness and engagement on these topics. It also tracks and assesses the progress and practical implementation of open access to research data, addressing relevant issues for organizations. It organizes events, workshops, and training sessions to educate the research community about open access and data management best practices. It also assists in the formulation and implementation of policies that encourage open access to research data. It includes representatives from various stakeholder communities, ensuring diverse perspectives are considered in the development of open science policies. The Swedish Research Council’s mandate is implemented in consultation with bodies such as the National Library of Sweden, the National Archives, the Agency for Digital Government, and higher education institutions. The SRC has organized events such as the "Open Science – From Policy to Practice" conference, which brought together policymakers, researchers, practitioners, and stakeholders from across Europe.
