The Artificial Intelligence 4.0 programme is a Finnish national initiative launched in 2020 to strengthen the country’s capabilities in artificial intelligence and connect them with its broader goals for digitalization and sustainability. The program’s overarching aim is to accelerate AI research, promote adoption across industries, particularly among small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and establish Finland as a leading hub for ethical and sustainable AI innovation. By supporting research capacity, public–private partnerships, and data infrastructure, the initiative seeks to ensure that Finland’s AI development contributes to both economic competitiveness and the green transition.
