The National Documentation Centre (EKT) provides services addressed to public institutions and publishers of accredited scholarly journals and the general public including the organization, documentation and organized dissemination of metadata and content of scholarly journals, training and consulting services on issues like the standardization of editorial processes according to internationally accepted standards, intellectual property, the inclusion of content and metadata in international content indexers and harvesters via interoperable systems. EKT assigns DOIs to various scholarly materials, including journal articles, theses, and datasets, ensuring persistent and unique identification. Through its digital repositories and publishing platforms, EKT facilitates the dissemination of research outputs with assigned DOIs, enhancing their accessibility and citation potential.EKT supports the integration of ORCID iDs to uniquely identify researchers and link them to their scholarly contributions, improving recognition and credit within the academic community. EKT strongly advocates for the use of unique digital identifiers like DOIs and ORCID iDs, but does not enforce their adoption. It provides the necessary infrastructure and support to encourage voluntary uptake among researchers and institutions.
Through its ePublishing service, EKT assigns DOIs to publications, facilitating their integration into the global research infrastructure and enhancing their visibility.
EKT manages platforms such as the National Archive of PhD Theses and SearchCulture.gr, which utilize DOIs to provide reliable access to digital content.
