The Korea BioData Station (K-BDS) is a national repository established by the Korea Bioinformation Center (KOBIC) to systematically collect, manage, and share biological research data generated from government-funded projects across various disciplines, including medical science, agriculture, fisheries, and environmental biology. K-BDS implements standardized submission forms for each data type, systematic data submission processes, and quality control processes. This standardization ensures that data is organized and accessible in a consistent manner, promoting interoperability and ease of use for researchers. As of early 2022, 56 standard data registration forms are available, covering a range of data from agricultural research to biomedical research.
Key Features of K-BDS include:
- Standardized Data Submission: K-BDS employs standardized submission forms tailored to different data types, ensuring consistency and quality across the repository.
- Comprehensive Data Organization: The repository organizes data into categories such as BioProject, BioSample, and experiments, each assigned unique accession numbers for easy identification and retrieval.
- International Compatibility: The data structure of K-BDS adheres to international standards and formats, ensuring interoperability with global biological data repositories.
