Eurodoc, the European Council of Doctoral Candidates and Junior Researchers, is a federation of national associations representing early-career researchers (ECRs) across Europe. Established in 2002, Eurodoc advocates for the interests of ECRs in matters of education, research, and professional development. Eurodoc actively advocates for the transition to open science by raising awareness about its principles and initiatives, making recommendations on implementation at various institutional levels, and promoting research assessment reforms aligned with open science. It conducts surveys to understand the adoption of open science practices among ECRs and identifying challenges and opportunities. It partners with organizations like PLOS to advance open science principles and ensure that solutions serve the needs of early-career researchers globally. It provides input on international open science policies, such as contributing to UNESCO's Recommendation on Open Science, to ensure that the perspectives of early-career researchers are considered.
The Open Science Working Group (WG) within Eurodoc focuses on promoting and implementing open science practices among early-career researchers. This group serves as a platform for discussing and advocating for open science policies, providing training, and supporting the transition towards more open and transparent research methodologies.
