Council for National Open Science Coordination (CoNOSC)

Abstract

Council for National Open Science Coordination (CoNOSC) is a network of national Open Science coordinators in the UN-European region, promoting international dialogue and sharing good practices for a unified Open Science policy framework. It was created by France, Finland, and the Netherlands in 2019.

CoNOSC fills in the gaps in national Open Science coordination, creating meaningful connections between its members. It helps countries create, update, and revise their OS policies to empower the research community to embrace and smoothly implement openness in their everyday practice. It organises meetings, interviews the community, facilitates knowledge exchange and keeps track of OS policy developments and shares news with our members and with the wider public.

Background

Created by France, Finland, and the Netherlands to support national Open Science policies. On 21 October 2019, in Helsinki, representatives of the ERAC countries were invited to discuss the creation of a network of open science coordination. Twenty-one countries attended, as well as the European Commission. Participants agreed that it was necessary to create such a network to enable the coordination of national efforts in the field of open science.
