The integration of digital technologies is reshaping education systems, offering both opportunities and challenges. In Ireland, the Department of Education and Youth has recognised the need for action to ensure inclusiveness and responsiveness in the digital age. To support this, the OECD Secretariat and Ireland’s Department of Education and Youth organised an international peer-learning event on 25 November 2024 in Dublin. This work is part of the project Resourcing School Education: Policies for the Digital Transformation of Education and Future-Readiness of Teachers.
The event gathered experts from Estonia, France and Sweden to share experiences and strategies with Ireland’s Department of Education and Youth. Discussions focused on measuring the impact of digital tools, ensuring equitable access, and fostering digital competences among students and teachers. This document summarises the discussion and insights, structured in five sections: opportunities and challenges, measuring impact, access and competence, success factors and conclusions.
