24/10/2024 – The Global Forum Secretariat conducted a capacity-building mission to Algeria from 13 to 17 October 2024 to help the country prepare for its peer review on transparency and exchange of information on request for tax purposes. The mission, held in Algiers, brought together experts from the Global Forum Secretariat and representatives of various Algerian institutions to review Algeria's progress in implementing the international standard on exchange of information on request. The Secretariat met with representatives from the ministries of Foreign Affairs, Justice and Trade, the Directorate General of Taxes, the National Centre for the Trade Register, the Bank of Algeria, the Banking Commission, the Financial Intelligence Unit, and various professions (notaries, lawyers, chartered accountants, auditors, banks and financial institutions). Discussions focused on legislation concerning the availability of and access to information, and on practices for collecting, managing and exchanging such information.
