The OECD and the Office of the National Economic and Social Development Council (NESDC) are collaborating on implementing the Framework for Industry’s net-zero Transition in Thailand for the petrochemical industry and the plastic value chain. The kick-off meeting took place on the 15 February 2024 in Bangkok and was the opportunity to present the project, convene stakeholders and exchange on the priorities, challenges and opportunities for decarbonising the sector.
The objective of the workshop is to inform the selection of relevant low-carbon routes for decarbonising the petrochemical industry and the plastic value chain in Thailand.
The workshop will focus on providing insights and inputs for different decarbonisation options (see concept note attached) and is a pre-requisite for implementing the ‘Step 3’ of the Framework (i.e. the assessment of business cases).
