The Local Economic and Employment Development (LEED) Programme mission is to contribute to the creation of more and better jobs. Achieved through effective policy implementation, innovative practices, stronger capacities and integrated strategies at the local level, LEED sees building quality jobs as the way back to prosperity. LEED calls on an international body of best practice to illustrate how national and local policy can help communities create more and higher skilled labour forces. LEED implements its mandate through a number of peer reviews within its work programme established every two years by the LEED Governing Board. LEED also contributes to OECD horizontal work on Skills, Green Growth and Innovation, among others. LEED runs an intensive capacity development programme at its Trento Centre in Italy, including seminars, workshops and "active" policy reviews. Seminars are also hosted by LEED members . Organisations not members of the LEED Directing Committee can participate in the activities of the LEED Programme by becoming a LEED Partner, join the Forum on Partnerships and Local Governance, a platform for practitioners and networks, and join an interactive dialogue on employment and skills strategies in Southeast Asia through our ESSSA.
