This report examines the relationship between Indigenous Peoples and the mining sector across OECD countries, highlighting both longstanding challenges and emerging opportunities. Drawing on OECD studies on mining regions and Indigenous engagement, the report identifies priority policy actions for achieving mutually beneficial outcomes between national and subnational governments, Indigenous Peoples, and mining companies across four dimensions: Indigenous self-determination and decision making, improved economic opportunities, enhanced social services and cultural well-being, and strengthened environmental stewardship.
