Subsidies relative to the revenue of semiconductor producers have increased considerably since at least 2020, although firms based in China continue to receive larger subsidies relative to their revenue notwithstanding that recent increases in support have occurred in most regions covered by the OECD MAGIC database. Beyond these aggregates, however, there can be large differences in the subsidies received by individual semiconductor firms, highlighting possible risks for the level playing field in global trade.
