This report presents the 2026 edition of the OECD Tourism Trends and Policies publication. It was produced by the OECD Centre for Entrepreneurship, SMEs, Regions and Cities (CFE), led by Lamia Kamal-Chaoui, Director, as part of the programme of work of the OECD Tourism Committee. The report was undertaken in co-operation with the European Union*.
The report benefitted from significant contributions, feedback and guidance from policymakers and statisticians from OECD and partner countries. It also benefitted from consultation and feedback from intergovernmental organisations, including UN Tourism and the International Labour Organization, as well as industry representatives and associations, including Business at OECD. Discussions at two virtual workshops informed the preparation of Chapter 3 on Optimising the social impacts of tourism and Chapter 4 on Preparing tourism for extreme weather-related events.
The report was co-ordinated and edited by Jane Stacey, Head of the Tourism Policy and Analysis Unit, under the supervision of Nadim Ahmad, Deputy Director (CFE). From CFE: Julie Reimann, Economist authored Chapter 3, co-authored Chapter 2, managed the preparation of country policy profiles and undertook substantial co-ordination, drafting and editing; Peter Haxton, Senior Policy Analyst, co-authored Chapter 4 and provided support in drafting and editing; Brendan Irish, Research and Data Officer co-authored Chapter 1, managed the statistical database, and developed the country statistical profiles and synthesis tables; Doyeon Kwon, Senior Policy Analyst, Christina Gay, Policy Analyst and Issa Torres, Policy Analyst, provided support in drafting and editing; Monserrat Fonbonnat, provided administrative support and undertook substantial co-ordination; and Jack Waters and Bridgette Joyce served as publication co‑ordinators. Kristen Corrie (Consultant) co-authored Chapter 2 and the country profiles, and Robert Steiger (University of Innsbruck) co-authored Chapter 4.
