This OECD Policy Coherence Scan examines Austria’s strategic, institutional and legal arrangements for supporting coherent government action, with a focus on development policy and development co‑operation. Prepared under an EU Technical Support Instrument multi-country project and guided by the OECD Recommendation on Policy Coherence for Sustainable Development, the Scan looks at Austria’s legal framework, inter-ministerial co‑ordination, results-oriented budgeting, impact assessment, evaluation and stakeholder engagement. It identifies opportunities to clarify responsibilities, use existing co‑ordination mechanisms more strategically, strengthen links among planning, budgeting, monitoring and evaluation, improve follow-up to stakeholder input and integrate policy interactions, trade-offs and transboundary impacts more systematically across the policy cycle.
