Abstract

The Science Data Education Center in Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information (KISTI) focuses on empowering researchers and scientists with data literacy skills, enabling them to effectively collect, analyze, and utilize large-scale scientific data. The school’s programs are designed with a strong foundation in statistical and algorithmic tools, as well as managing and processing big data.

KISTI is organized into several divisions, including the Division of National S&T Data, the Division of Science and Technology Digital Convergence and the Division of Data Analysis.

The Science Data Education Center lies under the Div. of Science and Technology Digital Convergence.

The Center offers various training initiatives to enhance data utilization and analysis skills. These programs cater to the needs of industries, institutions, and government agencies, aiming to foster a data-driven research environment.

Additionally, KISTI has been involved in specialized data schools, such as the KISTI-INTEL Data School and the KISTI-INTEL-JNU Smart Data School, focusing on artificial intelligence and deep learning. These initiatives are part of KISTI's efforts to support innovation in science and technology through data-intensive research environments.

Background

KISTI, a leading research institute in science and technology information, leads open science based on science and technology infrastructure, and leads digital-based R&D innovation and new growth engines with world-class supercomputing and data analysis technology.

The Science Data Education Center at the Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information (KISTI) was established in 2021. This center focuses on training core professionals and future human resources in the data technology era by developing and operating education programs in data, supercomputing, and artificial intelligence, leveraging KISTI's strengths.

Prior to the establishment of the Science Data Education Center, KISTI had been providing data utilization and analysis education to meet the needs of industries, institutions, and governments since 1966.
