Abstract

The National Plan for Open Science was established by Ministerial Decree No. 268, which aims to make open science the standard practice in Italy. It focuses on transparency, cooperation, and the accessibility of scientific knowledge. The plan emphasizes the importance of training technical staff to support the FAIRification of research data within the Italian research system. It promotes the creation of Open Educational Resources to facilitate the dissemination of knowledge and skills related to open science practices. The NPOS advocates for initiatives aimed at enhancing data literacy and open science competencies among all concerned actors, including researchers and the broader public.

The ICDI Competence Centre (ICDI-CC): The Italian Computing and Data Infrastructure (ICDI) Competence Centre serves as a national reference point for Open Science, FAIR principles, and the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC). This center serves as a national network of experts providing support and guidance on open science practices, the application of FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) principles, and participation in the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC).
