Japan Link Center (JaLC) is the only DOI registration agency authorized by the Digital Object Identifiers (DOI) Foundation in Japan. It provides a system for assigning Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) to various digital content, including scholarly papers, books, research data, and e-learning materials. In addition, JaLC is working to assign identifiers to research data and equipment. JaLC assigns DOIs to a wide range of scholarly materials, including: Journal articles, Books and monographs, Research datasets, Conference proceedings.
JaLC actively promotes the adoption of DOIs within Japan's academic and research institutions, but does not mandate their adoption (which typically comes from funding agencies, institutions, or publishers). It works with universities, research institutions, and publishers to integrate DOIs into their workflows. It encourages the use of ORCID iDs for researchers to uniquely identify and attribute individual contributions.
