European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) Task Forces on Research Careers and Curricula

Abstract

The European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) has established several Task Forces under its Research Careers and Curricula Advisory Group to advance open science practices across Europe. A key Task Force in this domain is the "Data Stewardship, Curricula, and Career Paths Task Force" aimed to create standardized educational programs to equip Data Stewards with the necessary skills for effective data stewardship and propose sustainable career trajectories

It gathers and disseminates best practices and case studies from European countries and universities to guide the adoption of data stewardship roles and curricula.

TF recent outputs include:

- the "Recommendations for Data Stewardship Skills, Training, and Curricula", a report providing an overview of essential competencies and offers implementation examples from European institutions.

- the "Data Stewardship Career Paths: Recommendations" highlighting the importance of sustainable career paths for Data Stewards and offers actionable recommendations.

Background

The European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) established its Task Forces under the Research Careers and Curricula Advisory Group in August 2021. These Task Forces were approved by the EOSC Association General Assembly on August 31, 2021, as part of five Advisory Groups leading to the formation of 13 Task Forces.
