The ELIXIR-UK FAIR Data Stewardship Training Fellowship is a program established by ELIXIR-UK to enhance FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) data management practices within the UK's life sciences sector. Launched in 2021 with funding from UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), the fellowship aims to embed Research Data Management (RDM) expertise into UK universities and institutes by creating a community of Data Stewardship ambassadors. The program seeks to build a community of Data Stewards with practical experience in contemporary life science data management across the UK.
Fellows are supported in creating learning materials and offering local training in their fields of FAIR data expertise, leveraging existing resources and contacts within their institutions.
The fellowship programme is part of a broader initiative to develop a sustainable data skills training program in the life sciences, realized through embedding material locally into existing in-house training programs and research infrastructure. It contributes to the professionalization of data stewardship roles within the life sciences community.
