Read the Final Statement published by the NCP 13 June 2025: English

On 16 July 2024, an individual submitted a specific instance to the Australian NCP alleging that Noritake Pty Ltd, an Australian subsidiary of the Japanese company Noritake Co., Ltd, which specialises in the retail and wholesale of premium dinnerware and housewares, had not observed the General Policies (Chapter II), Disclosure (Chapter III), Human Rights (Chapter IV), and Consumer Interests (Chapter VIII) provisions of the Guidelines. Specifically, the issues concerned alleged deceptive marketing of the company's bone china products, involving the provision of misleading information about composition and quality standards, which led to financial, social, ethical and human rights concerns for consumers.
On 13 June 2025, the Australian NCP published a final statement deciding not to accept the specific instance, concluding that further examination would not contribute to the purposes or effectiveness of the Guidelines. This decision was based on the limited significance of the impact of the misleading information in a 2014 blog post and the subsequent removal of this content from the company's website during the complaints process.
