03/10/2025 – On 1-2 October 2025, the Secretariat of the Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information for Tax Purposes (Global Forum) successfully held the third edition of its flagship event on information security, the 2025 Information Security Management Days (ISM Days). The virtual gathering brought together over 500 tax officials from 116 jurisdictions to exchange best practices and insights on critical cybersecurity topics.
Organised under the Global Forum’s ISM Network and aligned with the global cyber-security month, the 2025 ISM Days focused on emerging challenges and innovations in information security. Key topics included the use of artificial intelligence in tax administrations, securing active directory environments, security by design, and network segmentation to protect sensitive taxpayer data.
Over the course of two days, 11 experts from Armenia, Bulgaria, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, France, Ireland, South Korea, Mauritius, Peru, Thailand and Tunisia shared their experiences and practical approaches to managing evolving cyber threats. Through interactive sessions and live surveys, participants also contributed their insights and good practices, fostering a dynamic and collaborative learning environment.
As the international body responsible for the global implementation of tax transparency and exchange of information standards, the Global Forum places information security management at the core of its mission. Through its robust capacity-building programme, the Secretariat continues to support member jurisdictions in adopting and implementing ISM best practices, which are essential for safeguarding taxpayer data in cross-border exchanges.
The Global Forum is the leading multilateral body mandated to ensure that jurisdictions around the world adhere to and effectively implement both the Standard on Exchange of Information on Request and the Standards of Automatic Exchange of Information (financial accounts and crypto-asset transactions). These objectives are achieved through a robust monitoring and peer review process. The Global Forum also runs an extensive capacity-building programme to support its members in implementing the standards and help tax authorities make the best use of cross-border information sharing channels.
