Jointly organised by the Global Forum Secretariat and Paraguay's Dirección Nacional de Ingresos Tributarios (DNIT), the 17th Global Forum plenary meeting was held at the Conference Center of the Confederación Sudamericana de Fútbol (CONMEBOL), in Asunción, Paraguay, on 26-28 November 2024. The three-day event brought together ministers, high-level authorities and delegates from more than 100 countries and jurisdictions, members and non-members of the Global Forum, as well as international organisations, academia and representatives of the civil society.
The public sessions on Tuesday 26 November 2024 were broadcast live. They included an opening address by the President of of the Republic of Paraguay, Mr Santiago Peña Palacios, and the presentation of the 2024 Global Forum annual report. The second and third days were reserved to members, observers and invitees, with a focus on the sharing of experiences and the adoption of documents.
Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information for Tax Purposes
17th Global Forum plenary meeting - 26-28 November 2024 | Asunción, Paraguay
The plenary meeting was the occasion to highlight the collective achievements of the Global Forum and its 171 members. The results of 15 years of international co-operation to address tax evasion drove discussions on the future work of the Global Forum, including on the implementation of the new Crypto-Asset Reporting Framework (CARF), the latest advances on the automatic exchange of financial account information, the exchange of information on request, and the ever-expending capacity-building activities of the Global Forum Secretariat, to ensure the effective implementation of the international standards on transparency and exchange of information for tax purposes.
