This panel will discuss the role and strategies of regional and municipal governments in community development. It will focus on governance (management of mining revenues and coordination mechanisms) as well as long-term development policies (diversification strategies and improving workforce opportunities), particularly for the case of urban communities.
11:10-12:20 Panel 2: Promoting entrepreneurship and business development in Indigenous communities and other groups in mining economies
This panel will discuss strategies to support Indigenous Peoples and other communities living in mining regions to promote productive projects, economic diversification, and entrepreneurship.

- Parallel 3A: Local added value and innovation in copper and lithium
This session will discuss strategies to increase value added along the local value chain (upstream and downstream), drawing on examples from different mining localities.
- Parallel 3B: Education centres to maximise mining benefits
This session will discuss practices from education centres and universities to upskill local workforces and boost research in mining contexts, particularly in light of emerging industry needs (automation, digitalisation).
