The IFCMA Climate Policy Database describes climate change mitigation and mitigation-relevant policy instruments across their multiple dimensions, including a clear and consistent unit of analysis (the policy instrument) and standardised variables to characterise each instrument.
Information for each policy instrument is collected at two levels of aggregation: at the policy instrument level and at the sub-scheme level, enabling a more detailed description of the instrument and facilitating the use of the database for various needs. Sub-schemes can be considered as variations of the main policy instrument. Often, these variations introduce differentiated requirements or provisions for specific segments of the policy regulatory base (i.e. the group of agents, assets, or activities that an instrument’s requirement applies to).
The IFCMA Climate Policy Database: Policy instruments typology and data structure paper provides more detail on how the database is organised and how it characterises policy instruments.
