This dashboard is a practical tool for tax analysis, tax policy design and monitoring progress in domestic resource mobilisation.
It draws on key indicators from the Global Revenue Statistics Database, which contains high-quality, harmonised and detailed data on tax revenues across a wide range of economies worldwide.
By enabling cross-regional comparisons of tax levels, composition and trends over time, the dashboard sheds light on how different economies raise tax revenues and how their structure has evolved.
This dashboard is automatically updated with each new release of the Revenue Statistics databases: Global, Africa, Asia and the Pacific, Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC), and OECD.
These databases contain detailed, harmonised tax and non-tax revenue data for a large number of economies from 1990 onwards.
These data are harmonised according to according to the internationally-recognised OECD classification set out in the Interpretative guide.
In the OECD classification, the term “taxes” is defined as compulsory unrequited payments to general government. Taxes are unrequited in the sense that benefits provided by government to taxpayers are not normally in proportion to their payments. Non-tax revenues are all other government revenues that are not classified as taxes.
Revenue Statistics data are reported for 63 tax types and 8 non-tax revenue categories across all levels of government (general, sub-national and social security funds).

The Global Revenue Statistics Database combines the different Revenue Statistics datasets: Revenue Statistics in Africa, Revenue Statistics in Asia and the Pacific, Revenue Statistics in Latin America and the Caribbean, and Revenue Statistics OECD, as well as economies that are not in the regional datasets.
Revenue Statistics databases include regional averages for participating economies in Africa, Asia and the Pacific, and Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as an average for OECD economies. They are unweighted averages for all economies in each region, starting on the year for which all (or most) economies in each region have data available.
Data are regularly updated over the course of the year in line with the release schedule of the regional datasets.
