Global Revenue Statistics dashboard

This dashboard is a practical tool for tax analysis, tax policy design and monitoring progress in domestic resource mobilisation. It draws on key indicators from the global and regional Revenue Statistics databases for Africa, Asia and the Pacific, Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC), and the OECD.

These databases contain high-quality, harmonised and detailed data on tax and non-tax revenues across a wide range of economies worldwide.

By enabling cross-regional comparisons of tax and non-tax levels, composition and trends over time, the dashboard sheds light on how different economies raise tax and non-tax revenues and how their level and structure have evolved.

Understanding the Revenue Statistics databases

This dashboard is automatically updated with each new release of the Revenue Statistics databases: Global, Africa, Asia and the Pacific, Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC), and OECD. The latest update took place in July 2026. As of that update, 2023 was the latest year with complete coverage across all economies and regions included in the dashboard. Data for 2024 are available for more than 125 economies and for the Asia-Pacific, LAC, and OECD averages.

These databases contain detailed, harmonised tax and non-tax revenue data for a large number of economies from 1990 onwards.

These data are harmonised according to according to the internationally-recognised OECD classification set out in the Interpretative guide.

Key definitions and revenue categories

In the OECD classification, the term “taxes” is defined as compulsory unrequited payments to general government. Taxes are unrequited in the sense that benefits provided by government to taxpayers are not normally in proportion to their payments. Non-tax revenues are all other government revenues that are not classified as taxes.

Revenue Statistics data are reported for 63 tax types and 8 non-tax revenue categories across all levels of government (general, sub-national and social security funds).

The OECD classifies taxes into the following main categories:

Taxes on income, profits and capital gains (of individuals and of corporations)
Social security contributions (all compulsory payments to general government that confer an entitlement to receive a contingent social benefit in the future)
Taxes on payroll and workforce
Taxes on property
Taxes on goods and services
Other taxes

Main categories of non-tax revenues include:

Grants (foreign aid)
Property income (rents and royalties, interest and dividends and other property income)
Sales of goods and services (including administrative fees)
Fines, penalties and forfeits
Miscellaneous and unidentified revenue

Revenue Statistics databases

The Global Revenue Statistics Database combines the different Revenue Statistics datasets: Revenue Statistics in Africa, Revenue Statistics in Asia and the Pacific, Revenue Statistics in Latin America and the Caribbean, and Revenue Statistics OECD, as well as economies that are not in the regional datasets.

Revenue Statistics databases include regional averages for participating economies in Africa, Asia and the Pacific, and Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as an average for OECD economies. They are unweighted averages for all economies in each region, starting on the year for which all (or most) economies in each region have data available.

Data are regularly updated over the course of the year in line with the release schedule of the regional datasets.
