Through Peer Reviews on Development Finance Statistics, members of the Development Assistance Committee (DAC) and the OECD jointly assess how countries collect, report and disseminate data on their development co-operation. These reviews help countries respond to the increasing demand for comprehensive, reliable and accessible statistics on development finance, in a context of frequent changes to reporting requirements, staff-turnover and often complex, decentralised reporting systems. Switzerland’s quality assurance of official development assistance (ODA)-eligibility is commendable. The country places high importance on the integrity of ODA. While data collection has improved in recent years, Switzerland is encouraged to set up a central database capable of automating its transfer. Further work is also recommended on data related to the untying of aid. Switzerland is encouraged to clearly define the role of the Swiss Development Co-operation (SDC) in the reporting on SDG results and Total Official Support for Sustainable Development (TOSSD). Switzerland has a well-thought communication strategy, but can do more to communicate statistics on development co-operation.
