This technical paper develops environment-related Trade Facilitation Indicators (env-TFIs) by linking trade facilitation measures to the stages of a product lifecycle where they most directly affect environmental traceability: production, use, and end-of-life. Building on the OECD Trade Facilitation Indicators (TFIs) framework, it assesses how trade facilitation policies and practices support or constrain the movement of goods within environmentally performing supply chains, including products subject to non-product-related processes and production method requirements and those associated with circular economy objectives. The paper defines the scope of measures captured by the env-TFIs and sets out the associated scoring methodology. It provides a consistent framework for data collection, assessment, and future updates, enabling systematic monitoring of trade facilitation practices relevant to environmental traceability. The framework is intended to support future analytical and policy work as regulatory approaches, environmental requirements and supply chain structures continue to evolve.
