The OECD Critical Minerals Initiative brings together the Organisation's expertise across a range of topics including investment, responsible business conduct, trade, taxation, development and the environment to help governments navigate one of the defining policy challenges of the coming decades. To this end, the Initiative provides comparative analysis and a platform for sustained dialogue between mineral-producing and mineral-consuming economies.
This publication forms part of the Initiative's work on supply chain transparency, traceability and resilience. The purpose of the report is to give policymakers, industry and multilateral initiatives a grounded understanding of how traceability works in practice, where it adds value and where its limits lie, and to offer recommendations that can be taken forward through national policy and international cooperation. In doing so, it seeks to serve producing and consuming countries alike, connecting supply chain transparency with responsible sourcing, revenue mobilisation and good governance.
