The OECD project “Leveraging AI to improve the labour market relevance of VET curricula and qualifications”, aims to provide evidence‑based insights into the current AI use, potential and challenges of AI in VET curriculum and qualification development, and to develop guidance for VET stakeholders. The project was supported by the OECD’s Group of National Experts (GNE) on VET, a subsidiary body of the Education Policy Committee (EDPC).
The OECD extends its sincere gratitude to all the stakeholders across the 25 participating countries who contributed through survey, stakeholder interviews and workshops. Their insight, experience, perspectives and feedback were instrumental to the project. Special thanks are extended to country co‑ordinators and co‑ordinating teams in ten case‑study countries that are highlighted throughout this report: Croatia, England (United Kingdom), Estonia, Germany, Ireland, Korea, Lithuania, Mexico, the Netherlands and Switzerland. The OECD also acknowledges the valuable assistance of EDPC delegates and GNE‑VET members in identifying country co‑ordinators and teams, facilitating contacts and providing feedback throughout the study. The OECD further recognises the initial discussions held with representatives from Lightcast and OpenSyllabus, whose expertise informed the understanding of AI applications in curriculum and labour market data analysis.
The OECD is grateful for the financial support of the European Commission for this project. In particular, the OECD thanks Melina Tasiovasilis, Jan Varchola and Michael Horgan from the Commission for their valuable guidance and feedback throughout the study.
This report was prepared by the VET team in the OECD Centre for Skills.
