On 4 September 2025, the trade unions Workers United, SEIU International, IUF and EFTAG submitted a specific instance to the Swiss NCP, alleging that UBS Group AG, a publicly traded Swiss company operating in the financial services and accomodation and food services sector, had not observed the General Policies (Chapter II), Human Rights (Chapter IV), Employment and Industrial Relations (Chapter V), and Consumer Interests (Chapter VIII) provisions of the Guidelines. Specifically, the issues concerned the alleged lack of human rights due diligence in relation to UBS Group AG’s investment in Starbucks Corporation. The complainants raised issues relating to Starbucks’ alleged violations of labour rights, consumer fraud and the use of forced labour within its supply chain.
The Swiss NCP is co-ordinating with the United Kingdom and United States NCPs and is currently conducting an initial assessment.
