Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information for Tax Purposes
Global Forum supports Bolivia’s efforts to enhance tax transparency
The visit offered the opportunity to present the Global Forum and to discuss the latest advances on tax transparency with the Minister of Finance, Mr Marcelo Montenegro, the Vice Minister of Tax Policy, Mr Jhonny Morales, and the Executive President of the National Tax Service, Mr Mario Cazón. Authorities and senior representatives from other agencies, such as the Ministry of Institutional Transparency and the Fight against Corruption, the Financial System Supervisory Authority, the Financial Investigations Unit and the Customs Service also attended the meetings and were briefed on the tax transparency standards and the work carried out by the Global Forum and its Secretariat.
Following these high-level meetings, an introductory workshop was delivered to officials from the National Tax Service and other relevant agencies to explain the benefits and commitments associated with joining the Global Forum, the Convention on Mutual Administrative Assistance in Tax Matters, the Standard on Transparency and Exchange of Information on Request and the Common Reporting Standard on Automatic Exchange of Information. The delegation also presented the technical assistance available to new members to help implement the tax transparency standards and benefit from them in domestic resource mobilisation efforts.
The Global Forum is the leading multilateral body mandated to ensure that jurisdictions around the world adhere to and effectively implement the standard on transparency and exchange of information on request (EOIR) and the standards on automatic exchange of information (AEOI). These objectives are achieved through a robust monitoring and peer review process.
